in the U.S. in 2007 was estimated to be $306.39 billion, contributed:

The edition's key findings include:
- Overall foundation giving rose 10 percent in 2007 to an estimated $42.9 billion
- Giving by the nation's more than 72,000 grantmaking foundations increased 7.1 percent in 2006 to $39 billion
- Assets of all active U.S. foundations were up 11.6 percent to a record $614.7 billion in 2006
- All four major regions in the U.S.
reported growth in number of foundations, assets and giving in 2006, with the West posting the fastest growth in all measures

The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University seeks

GivingUSA Foundation
The GivingUSA Foundation, formerly
the AAFRC Trust for Philanthropy,
supports
research and education and publishes GIVING
USA, the annual yearbook on American philanthropy.
NATIONAL
CENTER FOR CHARITABLE STATISTICS
The NCCS is the national clearinghouse of data on the nonprofit
sector in the United States. Its mission is to develop and
disseminate high quality data on nonprofit organizations
and their activities for use in research on the relationships
between the nonprofit sector, government, the commercial
sector, and the broader civil society.
ARNOVA
The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations
and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) is membership organization
that fosters the creation, application and dissemination
of research on voluntary action, nonprofit organizations,
philanthropy and civil society.
