Public Policy Resources

Philanthropic organizations and government institutions share a strong desire to improve the lives of people in their communities, and can effectively and productively complement each others’ efforts by joining forces on issues critical to our shared future.

In our role as the voice and resource for philanthropy in greater Philadelphia and neighboring regions, DVG is committed to advancing the work of our members by advocating for public policies that promote philanthropy, encourage charitable giving and advance the nonprofit sector as a whole, and to helping both grantmakers and policy makers build stronger relationships in order to improve joint action on behalf of the people we serve.

In addition to providing updates on legislation affecting the philanthropic and nonprofit sector (Legislative Update), this section of our site will also provide grantmakers with an understanding of how public policy can affect their work, and why it’s important for them to stay informed and communicate with policy makers about legislative activity and policy issues with potential impact on the sector (see Grantmakers & Public Policy), as well as offer policy makers information on how DVG and its grantmaker members can serve as a valuable resource and partner in their efforts to serve their constituents (Resources for Policy Makers).

Please contact DVG’s executive director Debra Kahn (debra@dvg.org or 215-790-9700 ext. 4) with questions or to receive further information on DVG’s involvement in public policy.
